However, it can also be a place of despair, fear, and destruction. It may be unknown, cold, and distrustful, and at times, even reprehensible. Despite this, it remains a solid and strong foundation for individuality and self-determination.
My parents' journey began in their beautiful homeland of Afghanistan, and their story has paved the way for my siblings and me. Their thoughts and experiences live on in us because they created a solid and strong home for us, while they themselves left everything behind and set off into an unknown world.
